FAQ James Ministry
Q:
What will we be doing?
A: The James ministry will involve mainly construction and
repairs, the work will be on both churched and unchurched
persons primary residence, but will also include working with
other ministries who have construction needs.
Q:
How will the sites be selected?
A: All of the work will be done through referrals from church
members and other ministries. There must be a sincere need and
or an opportunity to share the gospel of Christ to an unchurched
family.
Q:
Will work be done on all referrals?
A: No. Work will only be done on homes, which are the resident
primary home. No work will be done to rental property, or
to a residence that will be sold in the near future.
Q:
Who will pay for the materials?
A: The James Ministry will only provide labor; materials will
be purchased by the homeowner, a relative, and friend or can be
provided with a collection from the class taking on the project.
Q:
What cost will be involved?
A: Your time will be the biggest cost. Most projects will be
local, scheduled for Saturday. Plans are to have donuts and
coffee, with sandwiches for lunch. Any cost involved will be
announced when the project date is set.
Q:
Do I need any special skills?
A: There should be at least one person who has the
construction/handyman skills to see the project is complete.
Q: What is the best way to travel to a project?
A: In your personal
vehicle, or by carpooling.
Q: Can I use a project as an outreach tool to involve unchurched
youth or adults?
A: Yes, you will be able to bring unchurched friends or
family who are willing to participate in the workday. You will
be held accountable for their actions, so please be sure to
inform them that this is a ministry activity
Q: What will the Group Leaders requirements be?
A: The Group Leaders requirements will be to plan the work
to be done, enlistment of volunteers, schedule materials
delivery and feeding if applicable.
Q: Should I make a pre-project visit?
A: Someone on the team will need to meet with the resident
or church leader to learn what the needs and scope of work will
be. The visit will allow you to see both the physical and
spiritual needs of the project.
Q: How do I get information?
A: Information will be sent to all those who fill out an
application, or are already in our database.
Q. Will my class work together as a crew?
A: If your class desires to take on a project “as a
class” then they will work as a team.
